A spirited giving campaign

Company

JCCSF

Role

Design

A festive night recognizing donors and the community they support, JCCSF Celebration is the largest giving campaign of the year.

This project tasked me with bringing the theme – sports, specifically the sportsmanship values the JCCSF teaches – to life. I needed to use the JCCSF’s new brand, which is energetic and friendly, while also adding an elegance worthy of a night of fundraising. The design challenge was to walk the fine line between spirited and youthful. We wanted to incorporate sports, but steer clear of looking like a Superbowl or child’s birthday party.

The essence of the design revolved around the sub-head: Huddle Up and Have a Ball (which I helped name!). This lighthearted pun inspired a series of illustrations – also puns – that combine elements of both a gala and sports. A martini glass with tennis ball in lieu of a lemon slice clinks with another glass. A basketball spins from the ceiling in place of a disco ball. Other vintage-inspired elements, cheerful flags and pendants, round out the design package.

I’m pleased with the final product. We met all of our goals – the fundraising team met their goal, the day-of signage got attendees where they needed to go, and most importantly, everyone had a fantastic night.
